Types of Hydraulic Cranes
Among the most popular cranes in the construction business is hydraulic cranes. They are used to construct everything from freeway overpasses and roadways to buildings and skyscrapers.
Cranes come in a huge variety of units, styles and sizes. These different units allow both the operators and owners to perform many more functions within their industry. Choosing the best kind of crane is very crucial for making sure that the material can be moved efficiently and safely to the place it needs to get to in order for the construction process to begin.
Truck Cranes
Truck cranes will usually have 2 different cabs. One cab is utilized to drive the truck unit when in transport mode, while the other is for controlling the crane. These cranes are very useful for building sites where a crane is needed in many different locations for the duration of the build. This is because of the fact that the crane could be easily driven from one location to another.
Cranes could also be transported to various construction locations on the road as they drive themselves, which eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own really lessens transport expenses at the end of the day.
One disadvantage of a truck crane is that it is not stable enough sitting on tires alone in order to be able to lift the major loads which a hydraulic crane could handle. Hence, to be able to fix this problem, outriggers could be extended from the deck. The outriggers use hydraulic pressure in order to slightly lift the truck off of the ground, making it stable and balanced.
Crawler-Mounted Cranes
Crawler cranes feature large tracks on the base of the crane. These huge tracks are similar to the ones seen on other construction equipment such as bulldozers and backhoes. The tracks allow the crane to move around a construction locations successfully.
