The Liebherr family business was started in 1949 by Hans Liebherr. The company first gained fame from its mobile tower crane which was noted for its ease of assembly and affordability. It was upon this creation that the company's foundation flourished under. Today, Liebherr has grown to become among the world's leading manufacturers of construction machinery. The company has also earned the reputation of being the accredited provider of user-oriented technically innovative products and services in different fields. The business has presently become a "Group" working in each and every continent with more than 35,000 workers and more than 130 companies all around the world.
The Liebherr Group has been divided into different company units in order to guarantee a manageable operating size. These separate units operate independently. Liebherr Group's holding company is Liebherr-International AG. Liebherr-International AG is situated in Bulle, Switzerland and is operating by members of the Liebherr family. Now, the family business is being managed by Dr. H.C. Willi Liebherr and his sister Dr. H.C. Isolde Liebherr in the second generation. Since the year 2012, some of the active individual divisions have been represented by 3rd generation family members including: Sophie Albrecht, Jan Liebherr, Patricia Ruf and Stefanie Wohlfarth. These family members have been working hard together to help set up the family business' course in the future. They are staying on top of residential buildings and large-scale industrial projects across the world.
Hans Liebherr started to build his company during 1949, within a tiny town called Kirchdorf in southern Germany. Kirchdorf, currently supports amongst Liebherr's 20 manufacturing locations. They employ over 1400 people in that specific workforce and could average an annual output of about 2800 wheeled excavators.
