A type of machine in the material handling industry that can be used to lift and transport loads from one place to another is known as a forklift. Every component of a forklift has a particular function. Different components could be utilized to move the load horizontally or vertically.
Mast
The forklift mast refers to all the components which lower and lift the load. There are various kinds of masts for lifting loads to various heights: duplex, triplex, quad and simplex.
Power Supply
Forklifts have four various ways of being powered: electric, gas, diesel and propane. The battery is located within the cab beneath the seat. The propane tank is on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on diesel and gas forklifts is under the back of the truck.
Cab
The forklift cab is positioned in the center of the truck. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the controls and informational gauges. The steering wheel, gas pedal, brake, lifting controls and tilting controls are all located inside the cab.
Frame
The frame of the truck carries all the largest components of the forklift, like the counterweights, that are located at the rear in order to prevent the truck from tipping when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the driveshaft, axles and wheels.
